With reference to your letter of the 13th of December 27906 last respecting the territory MacDonald acquired from China under the Convention of June 9, 1898, I am directed by the Marquis of Salisbury to transmit to you a copy of a telegram from Her Majesty's Minister at Peking, reporting the steps taken by him on receipt of the instructions sent to him with the concurrence of the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
I am to request that Mr Chamberlain's attention be drawn to the last paragraph of Sir Claude MacDonald's telegram.
